What are the Types of Fitness Testing?

Physical fitness is a complex issue, as many physical factors demand the instructor’s attention. Different tests are available for specific fitness components, which consist of the following:

• Flexibility and joint mobility
• Aerobic power
• Muscular strength
• Speed
• Anaerobic power and anaerobic capacity
• Muscular endurance

Both fitness instructors and clients need to identify these components to determine the latter’s performance and administer appropriate tests.

Why Conduct Fitness Testings?

Fitness testings when done right by both instructor and clients, provide many benefits for both parties. Conducting these tests assures the client that the instructor is reliable. It helps them focus on their goals and enables them to receive positive feedback from others.

Fitness instructors are provided with a general outlook on the client’s medical well-being. This gives the person the idea if further medical screening is necessary or not. The results of the test may show the client’s physiological capabilities, a predictor of performance.

What if No Test Was Conducted?

Not conducting fitness tests is not recommended. Both instructor and client will miss out on its benefits. Fitness tests provide instructors with the information they need to know their clients better. This measure allows instructors to provide proper fitness prescriptions with reasonable justifications.

Before conducting training regimens, instructors should insist fitness testings on their clients. It improves a client’s chance on achieving their goals when the instructor truly knows the person better.
